Original Consumables and WEEE compliance
For OKI Printing Solutions, caring for the environment is just as important as complying with environmental regulations.
WEEE is the European Waste Electrical and Electronics Equipment Directive. It was introduced in 2007 as an industry-wide initiative to minimise the environmental impact of electronic equipment by ensuring that producers, like OKI Printing Solutions, accept responsibility for taking back used products and recycling them.
OKI Printing Solutions is fully compliant with the WEEE Directive and provides a collection and recycling scheme – managed by its local operating companies – for customers’ used products.
Used consumables, such as toner cartridges, that are returned by customers are first dismantled. The materials are then segregated and forwarded to our recycling partners to begin a new life. Compost bins, benches and plant pots are among the many everyday items that are recycled from the plastics used in our products.
All OKI Printing Solutions products manufactured at the Cumbernauld facility which are covered by the WEEE Directive incorporate the WEEE symbol on their packaging to indicate that they should not be disposed of through normal waste channels and, instead, should be recycled.
